There are different ways to take CBD, lots of different conditions it helps with, and everyone is different … With all those variables, how do you know how much YOU should take?
A few of the more popular ways to administer CBD include ingesting it, sublingually, and applying it to the skin. Regardless of how you take it, there are two things to keep in mind:
Start low and slow
CBD is quite safe even in large doses
Many people think that it’s a good idea to start with a tincture, which is concentrated CBD and commonly comes in a bottle with a built-in dropper. You use the dropper to place the CBD under your tongue (sublingually) so that it can be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Since you can control how much CBD you are taking with the dropper, it is a good way to start with a drop or two (1 – 5mg) and see how you feel. If you don’t feel any relief, you can take a little more after at least three hours.
Another option is to take CBD orally through a capsule, powder, drink, or gummies. These all come in different strengths, so make sure you look at the label before you try one. For instance, some gummies have 10mg of CBD in them while others have 50mg.
With salves, creams or any other product you apply to the skin just start with a small amount and apply more until you feel relief.
However, there is no reason to take more than is needed. You might find it helpful to use a journal to track how much CBD you use and how you respond. Just remember to rate the severity of your symptoms and get a baseline before you start taking it so that you have an accurate comparison.
One more thing – although it is safe for most people, if you are taking any medications or have any chronic medical conditions, you should talk to your doctor about trying CBD just to make sure.
